Iraqi Army Chief of Staff, Special Forces Lieutenant General Abdul Amir Rashid Yarallah, stressed on Monday the importance of strengthening the Naval Forces' operational readiness and upgrading their capabilities to meet the demands of their assigned responsibilities.
The Ministry of Defense said in a statement that Yarallah visited the Naval Command accompanied by a high-level military delegation, where he was welcomed by the Naval Forces Commander and several senior staff officers.
During the visit, Yarallah held a meeting and received a comprehensive briefing on the command's duties, the operational situation across its area of responsibility, and the plans designed to carry out naval missions and safeguard national interests in Iraqi territorial waters.
The meeting also addressed operational requirements and field challenges facing naval units. Yarallah emphasized the need to expand military capabilities, improve the efficiency of formations, and strengthen coordination mechanisms to ensure missions are conducted with a high level of professionalism and discipline.
The ministry added that the visit forms part of ongoing efforts to assess the needs and performance of military commands, monitor their development programmes, and provide the support required to improve their operational effectiveness.
