Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi has announced plans to grant permanent employment status to contract workers and daily-wage employees in government ministries, alongside the creation of 120,000 new contract-based positions under the 2027 federal budget.

The announcement was made during a meeting chaired by al-Zaidi to review the upcoming budget. He explained that the new positions would be available to a broad range of applicants, with allocations distributed among provinces based on population size to promote fairness. A dedicated online platform will also be established to manage applications and ensure equal opportunities for candidates.

Al-Zaidi stressed that the government would provide the necessary financial resources to implement the measures, with permanent appointments and new job allocations to be processed in line with established regulations and official procedures.
