Iraqi Justice Minister Khalid Shwani held talks with Minister of Economy and Digital Transformation Mohammed Al-Darraji on progress in establishing a nationwide electronic database of property owners, as part of preparations for the “Watan” initiative to distribute one million residential plots, launched by Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi.

In a statement, the Ministry of Justice said discussions focused on the technical and administrative requirements for completing the database. Shwani revealed that more than 75% of the project has been completed, with efforts underway to finalize the remaining work within the designated timeframe.

Meanwhile, Al-Darraji commended the Justice Ministry’s efforts and progress in developing the national database, emphasizing its role in supporting digital transformation and providing essential information for the initiative.

He explained that his ministry will review and process the data received from the Justice Ministry before using it to establish eligibility requirements for applicants through the initiative’s dedicated online application form. He also stressed the need for continued cooperation between both ministries to ensure the project is completed as planned.
