Authorities are preparing to release former State of Law Coalition MP Kadhim Al-Sayadi within the next 24 to 48 hours, according to an informed source, following Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi's decision to withdraw his legal complaint.
The source indicated that Al-Sayadi's actual discharge is pending the completion of routine paperwork and legal formalities associated with the dropped suit.
Security forces detained the former parliamentarian in mid-August under judicial orders concerning extortion allegations. While media reports linked his arrest to the government’s "Sowlat Al-Fajr" anti-corruption crackdown initiated last June, Al-Sayadi had firmly dismissed those connections prior to his detention.
