Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Falih Al-Zaidi has called for a unified stance among Islamic countries and stronger cooperation to address the challenges facing their societies. His remarks came during a meeting with heads of delegations participating in the 52nd session of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation in Baghdad.
Al-Zaidi emphasised the need to strengthen communication among Muslim nations and promote the true image of Islam, highlighting the suffering in Gaza as a major issue requiring a coordinated Islamic response.
He noted that Islamic countries possess substantial human and natural resources, as well as significant energy assets and strategic waterways, but have yet to fully capitalise on their potential. He proposed establishing a joint platform to facilitate the exchange and marketing of products based on each country's production capabilities, alongside closer security cooperation to combat drug trafficking and protect young people and communities.
Al-Zaidi also pointed out that approximately 400 million Muslims are unemployed, stressing the importance of integrating labour markets and strengthening energy security through interconnected electricity networks, railways, transportation systems and digital communications. He further called for stronger links between industrial zones, noting that Iraq had launched the initiative as the organisation's meetings opened in Baghdad
