Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi held talks with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in Riyadh on Wednesday, focusing on regional developments and enhanced coordination to promote security and stability across the region.

A statement from the Iraqi prime minister’s media office said the meeting included an exchange of views on the evolving regional situation and the importance of coordinating efforts to address shared challenges.

During the talks, al-Zaidi condemned the attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, reiterating Iraq’s rejection of attacks against civilians and civilian facilities during conflicts, which he said threaten regional security and stability.

Al-Zaidi reaffirmed that Iraq would not allow its territory to be used as a base for attacks against Saudi Arabia or other countries in the region. He also stressed Baghdad’s commitment to good-neighborly relations and respect for the sovereignty of Iraq and its sister and friendly nations.

The discussions also covered ways to strengthen bilateral relations between Baghdad and Riyadh and expand cooperation in various fields, particularly security coordination to address common regional challenges.

For his part, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman expressed Saudi Arabia’s support for Iraq’s efforts to advance dialogue and contribute to greater stability throughout the region.
