Iraqi Deputy Speaker of Parliament Farhad Al-Atroshi highlighted the need for government measures to strengthen economic stability, protect food security, and keep the prices of essential commodities at affordable levels for citizens.

According to a statement from his media office, Al-Atroshi met on Monday in Baghdad with Shukri Jamil, head of the Duhok Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The meeting addressed the impact of rising US dollar exchange rates on citizens’ purchasing power and the resulting pressure on household living conditions.

The discussions also focused on expanding coordination and cooperation among chambers of commerce and industry in Baghdad, other Iraqi provinces, and the Kurdistan Region to support commercial activity and address economic challenges.

Al-Atroshi stressed the importance of practical measures to stabilize the prices of essential goods and ensure that citizens’ daily needs are met, helping ease living costs and promote stability in local markets.
