The Kurdistan Region’s Counter-Terrorism Service has clarified reports of explosions heard in Erbil, stating that the sounds were not caused by any attack or security incident but were linked to military exercises and field security activities.
In a statement, the agency said the explosions heard across parts of Erbil Governorate resulted from security activities and military training being conducted within the governorate.
The service stressed that the exercises pose no threat to residents and reassured the public that the security situation in Erbil remains stable, with no reason for concern.
