Southern Lebanon witnessed renewed Israeli military escalation on Thursday, with airstrikes, artillery fire and ground movements reported across several border areas.
Local sources said Israeli drones carried out strikes on the Ali al-Taher heights in Nabatieh, while additional air raids hit other locations. Demolition operations were also reported in the Al-Mashaa area between Mansouri and Majdal Zoun, where explosive barrels were reportedly used.
The town of Mansouri came under artillery fire, while Israeli military vehicles were seen moving in the surrounding area, including a Merkava tank and a D9 bulldozer. Stun bombs were also reported along the road connecting Aaziyah and Mansouri.
The escalation extended to other parts of the south, with Israeli drones flying over the skies of Tyre and demolition operations reported in Hadatha and Wadi Barashit. Israeli forces also moved into the Halta farm area in Hasbaya.
Israeli troops reportedly surrounded several homes and prevented residents from leaving, adding to tensions along the border region.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said the state bears responsibility for reconstruction, but stressed that carrying out the task remains impossible while the occupation continues.
Figures cited in connection with the escalation indicate that more than 4,000 people have been killed and over 12,000 wounded since March 2, 2026, while more than one million people have been displaced.
