Iraq’s General Directorate of Narcotics Affairs announced on Tuesday that an intelligence operation conducted beyond the country’s borders had led to the dismantling of an international drug trafficking network, the arrest of four members, and the seizure of 20 kilograms of hashish in a neighboring country.

In a statement, the directorate said specialized teams from the Kirkuk Narcotics Affairs Directorate successfully infiltrated the network following extensive intelligence work, eventually luring one of its members into an operation that resulted in his arrest while committing the crime on foreign soil.

The directorate added that information and confessions obtained from the first suspect helped identify the remaining members, leading to the arrest of three additional individuals and the seizure of the narcotics.
