Al-Aboudi estimated that previous decisions concerning the exchange rate had resulted in financial losses of nearly IQD 36 trillion between 2023 and 2026.

He also pointed to growing difficulties facing Iraq’s oil exports amid regional instability and potential disruptions to maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, warning of additional challenges for the country’s economic outlook and public revenues.
