Iraq is experiencing urban and economic growth that is creating diverse investment opportunities and opening new avenues for Gulf and international companies, the head of the National Investment Commission, Adel Al-Yasiri, said on Monday.
In a statement, the commission said Al-Yasiri met with a high-level delegation from the Qatar Investment Authority on the sidelines of the World Investment Forum 2026 in Doha. The talks focused on expanding joint investment opportunities and strengthening economic partnerships between Iraq and Qatar.
The meeting also reviewed developments in Iraq’s investment environment and the incentives and facilities introduced by the government to attract investors and major international companies, particularly in modern residential cities and industrial development projects.
Al-Yasiri stressed that the Iraqi government is working to establish a secure and attractive investment climate that facilitates project implementation and supports long-term sustainability. He added that the country’s ongoing urban and economic expansion presents significant prospects for Gulf and foreign investors.
The commission’s chairman also invited the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Qatari business leaders to visit Iraq and assess investment opportunities on the ground, highlighting the importance of strengthening economic cooperation and advancing the shared interests of both countries.
