Iraq has achieved first place for the second consecutive year in a competition honoring excellence in joint field, intelligence and operational cooperation to combat narcotics, the General Directorate for Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances at the Ministry of Interior announced on Wednesday.
The directorate stated that the competition is organized by the General Secretariat of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers, adding that the achievement reflects Iraq’s growing capabilities in tackling drug-related crimes, strengthening security partnerships and improving intelligence exchange.
It explained that the award recognizes efforts to enhance field coordination, operational cooperation and information sharing, as well as the implementation of joint security operations targeting drug trafficking and smuggling networks.
The directorate emphasized that the achievement resulted from sustained intelligence and fieldwork, alongside cooperation with counterpart security agencies across the Arab region and internationally, reinforcing collective efforts to combat narcotics-related crimes.
