Iraq announced new changes to its security leadership on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, appointing Major General Ahmed Abdul-Zahra Al-Aboudi as police chief of Karbala Province and Major General Mohammed Huwaidi as head of Wasit Police Command.

Under orders issued by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Al-Aboudi will take over the Karbala position from Major General Ahmed Al-Zuwaini. Al-Aboudi previously served as the police chief of Wasit, where Huwaidi has now been appointed to assume command.

The appointments form part of administrative and organizational changes within Iraq’s security institutions, aimed at reallocating leadership responsibilities in accordance with operational needs across the provinces.
