The General Directorate for Narcotics Affairs announced today that it had thwarted an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of narcotic pills from Iraq to Kuwait, seizing approximately 700,000 Captagon tablets and arresting two suspects.
According to a statement, the operation was based on intelligence gathered in coordination with Kuwait’s General Directorate for Narcotics Control. The suspects include an Iraqi national and another person who is residing illegally in Kuwait.
The directorate said security and intelligence efforts against drug trafficking and smuggling networks remain ongoing, with increased cooperation with relevant authorities in other countries to disrupt smuggling routes and cut off the networks’ sources of funding.
