Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said on Saturday that five members of what it described as a terrorist cell were killed during a security operation in Saravan, in southeastern Iran’s Sistan and Baluchestan Province.
The IRGC’s Quds Base said the operation began before dawn and targeted a hideout allegedly used by individuals planning assassination attacks in the area. Security forces reportedly recovered weapons, ammunition and explosive materials during the operation, while the reported death toll among the cell’s members rose from four to five.
The IRGC added that clashes continued until late Saturday morning and resulted in the deaths of three of its personnel.
