The Salah al-Din Criminal Court has sentenced the deputy director of the real estate registration office in Tikrit and another employee to four years of rigorous imprisonment over irregularities in a property ownership transfer, Iraq’s Federal Commission of Integrity announced.

According to the commission, the violations involved completing the transfer without the required identification documents for buyers and sellers, failing to obtain fingerprints from all sellers, and proceeding without the necessary security approvals and officially authorized powers of attorney. The transaction also failed to record property attachment orders with the Salah al-Din Real Estate Registration Directorate, in violation of applicable legislation.

The commission stated that the court reached its decision after examining the evidence and establishing the defendants’ responsibility for deliberately failing to fulfill their official duties. The ruling was issued under Article 330 of the Iraqi Penal Code and the relevant provisions on criminal participation. The commission also noted that affected parties retain the right to seek compensation through civil courts once the judgment becomes final.
