Basra Emergency Police have arrested eight suspects allegedly involved in drug trafficking following a security operation in the Al-Qibla area that involved a pursuit and an armed confrontation.
In a statement, the Basra Police Command said the operation followed intelligence reports concerning a group of motorcycle riders suspected of promoting illegal drugs. Security patrols tracked and pursued the group before surrounding its members, bringing the situation under control, and arresting eight suspects.
The command confirmed that legal procedures had been initiated against those detained, pending their referral to the relevant authorities for further investigation.
