Clashes erupted anew in the Iranian city of Semnan on Monday evening after local protesters targeted a residential building housing Iraqi students in the Ferdowsi area, marking the second incident of its kind in less than 24 hours.
Video clips showed Iraqi students inside the facility arming themselves with wooden sticks in self-defense, while frantically attempting to contact local police forces for protection.
In response, the Iraqi Cultural Mission in Tehran announced that it is closely monitoring the situation alongside the Iranian Ministry of Science, university officials, and law enforcement to ensure student safety and prevent further escalation.
Meanwhile, judicial authorities in Semnan Province confirmed the launch of an official investigation. Two suspects have already been detained for questioning, with authorities working to identify and apprehend all other individuals involved in the violent altercation.
