Türkiye’s Ministry of National Defence has warned that Israel’s continued military operations in Lebanon, Syria and Palestine, alongside Houthi attacks and threats in the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, are undermining regional stability and posing risks to international maritime security and global trade.

Speaking at a press briefing on Thursday, ministry spokesperson Zeki Aktürk said Israel’s simultaneous attacks on several fronts were further destabilizing the region, despite the international community’s awareness of the situation.

The ministry welcomed steps announced by 12 countries, including the United Kingdom, France and Canada, to restrict trade and business relations with Israeli settlements considered illegal under international law in the occupied West Bank.

Ankara urged the international community to move beyond verbal condemnations and adopt concrete, deterrent measures in response to what it described as Israel’s violations of international law, including attacks on displacement camps in Gaza and residential areas in southern Lebanon.

The Turkish Defence Ministry stressed that ending such practices and upholding international law were essential to restoring peace and stability across the region.

Addressing security developments, the ministry condemned a drone attack targeting Saudi Arabia over the weekend, as well as Houthi attacks, calling for an immediate end to activities threatening regional security.

It added that Houthi threats in the Red Sea and Bab el-Mandeb extend beyond regional security concerns, affecting maritime safety, international trade flows and global stability.

Saudi authorities announced on Tuesday that they had intercepted and destroyed a drone south of Makkah before it entered the city’s restricted airspace.

The developments followed a joint statement issued on September 8 by the foreign ministers of 12 countries, who announced plans to take measures aimed at banning trade in goods produced in illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories.
