U.S. President Donald Trump said the United States had targeted Iran’s Kharg Island, claiming that the strikes destroyed facilities on the island and reduced them to rubble.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump described the latest U.S. strikes and attached a simulated video illustrating the military operation and the damage inflicted on facilities in the area.
Meanwhile, U.S. Central Command said it had carried out a military operation against Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces on Iran’s Larak Island. CENTCOM said the strike targeted personnel involved in laying mines, which Washington described as an imminent threat to navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
The command said the threat was created by Iran and that U.S. forces acted to eliminate it in order to protect civilian sailors and commercial vessels and maintain the free flow of international trade through the Strait of Hormuz.
