U.S. President Donald Trump has announced a halt to arms sales to American allies until Washington replenishes its military stockpiles of weapons and ammunition, emphasizing the need to reserve supplies to meet the U.S. military’s own requirements.
Speaking in a recent television interview, Trump stated that the United States is retaining ammunition for domestic use, adding that arms purchases by allied countries would be permitted again once the country’s military reserves have been fully restored.
Trump also criticized former President Joe Biden, accusing his administration of supplying Ukraine with large quantities of weapons free of charge, which he said contributed to the depletion of American military stockpiles.
He attributed the ammunition shortage to the previous administration’s policy toward Ukraine, arguing that the situation was not a consequence of his administration’s handling of Iran, but rather of Biden’s decisions on military assistance to Kyiv.
