Ancient Babylon in Babil Governorate has seen increased tourist activity, with Iraqi and international visitors arriving to explore its historic landmarks and discover the legacy of the ancient Babylonian civilization amid cooler temperatures and milder weather.
The influx coincides with the Babylon Festival of Cultures and Arts, organized by Iraq’s Ministry of Culture at the tourist resort within the archaeological city. The festival has drawn large numbers of local families and visitors from neighboring governorates.
Tourists explored several of Babylon’s most prominent landmarks, including the Ishtar Gate, the Northern and Southern Palaces, the Lion of Babylon, and the Processional Street. Visitors took commemorative photographs and learned more about the historical significance of the ancient city.
The pleasant weather has encouraged family outings and made it easier for visitors to tour the archaeological site, offering greater opportunities to experience Babylon’s rich cultural heritage and historical importance
