Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art in Doha is set to launch a major exhibition titled “What Lingers in the Artist’s Mind: Experiments and Legacies of the Baghdad Modern Art Group,” highlighting one of the key movements that shaped the development of modern Iraqi art.
The exhibition will bring together paintings, sculptures, drawings, photographs and archival materials across 17 thematic and chronological sections. It will trace the group’s artistic journey from the 1940s to the present while examining its enduring impact on Iraqi and wider Arab art.
The exhibition is scheduled to open to the public on October 25, 2026, and will remain on view until February 6, 2027.
