Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi on Tuesday ordered the provision of subsidized fuel to private generators throughout September, following moves by generator operators in Baghdad to halt operations in protest against the support provided by the Oil Ministry.
Under the directive, private generators will be allocated 40 liters of fuel per kilowatt-hour at a subsidized rate of 400 Iraqi dinars per liter, while the existing operating schedule will remain in place.
Al-Zaidi also called for electricity supplies to households to reach at least 20 hours per day, through alternating operation between the national power grid and private generators
