Gold prices in Baghdad and Erbil held firm on Saturday, supported by steady U.S. dollar exchange rates during early trading.
According to Shafaq News, the wholesale price for imported 21-karat gold in Baghdad's Al-Nahr market settled at 970,000 IQD per mithqal, with local Iraqi gold at 940,000 IQD. Retail jewelers offered imported gold between 970,000 and 980,000 IQD, while local gold ranged from 940,000 to 950,000 IQD.
Erbil markets mirrored this trend, listing 21-karat gold at 960,000 IQD, 22-karat at 1,004,000 IQD, and 18-karat at 822,000 IQD.
The currency market echoed this stability, with Al-Kifah and Al-Harithiya stock exchanges trading at 154,650 IQD per $100. Local gold valuations remain tightly tied to international bullion prices and parallel exchange fluctuations, following a historic high last January when 21-karat gold crossed 1 million IQD per mithqal.
