Iraqi military units from the Jazira and West Nineveh Operations Commands began reinforcing their positions along the Rawa–Hatra defensive line on Thursday, as part of efforts to strengthen security across the Jazira region north of the Euphrates River, extending toward Nineveh and Salah al-Din provinces.
Major General Yahya Rasool Abdullah, spokesperson for the Ministry of Defense, said the operation is designed to secure desert areas, track down remaining terrorist elements, and prevent them from using remote areas as hideouts or bases for regrouping.
He added that the deployment will also help secure a shorter transportation route for civilians and commercial traffic, contributing to investment opportunities and supporting agricultural activities and livestock grazing.
