Iraq’s cultural and artistic community is mourning the death of visual artist and academic Hossam Abdul-Mohsen, who passed away at the age of 75 after decades of artistic and cultural work.
The Iraqi Artists Syndicate mourned the late artist, highlighting a career that brought together painting, teaching and writing, alongside numerous exhibitions and artistic activities.
Abdul-Mohsen left a distinctive mark on Iraq’s visual arts scene, producing works inspired by Iraqi heritage, identity and the local environment. He also contributed illustrations and stories aimed at children.
Alongside his artistic work, he maintained an academic career in fine arts and art research, leaving behind a body of work and contributions that remain part of Iraq’s cultural and artistic landscape.
