Iraq’s General Company for Maritime Transport, operating under the Ministry of Transport, has announced that the launch of the national carrier’s first commercial voyage from the UAE’s Jebel Ali Port to Basra is approaching. The initiative seeks to reactivate the Iraqi maritime route, known as the Iraq Line, following decades of suspension.
The company said preparations are continuing for the voyage across the Arabian Gulf, noting that the route is expected to support trade and cargo transportation, provide more competitive shipping rates, simplify transport procedures, and strengthen safety standards.
Traders and importers seeking to ship their goods through the national maritime carrier have been urged to book their shipments promptly through the company’s official contact channels and authorized website.
The move is part of the Ministry of Transport’s broader efforts to develop Iraq’s maritime transport sector, restore national shipping routes, and expand the role of Iraqi ports in regional and international trade.
