Iraq is stepping up efforts to maintain stable crude oil exports as regional tensions continue to pose challenges to maritime traffic across the Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.
According to data from Iraq’s state oil marketing company, SOMO, the country’s average crude exports stood at around 3.38 million barrels per day in August, with September shipments expected to increase to between 3.4 and 3.45 million barrels per day.
The move comes as Baghdad seeks to secure additional export routes and options to ensure the uninterrupted flow of crude to international markets, safeguard oil revenues and reduce potential risks arising from disruptions to regional shipping routes.
