Iraq and Syria are pursuing renewed efforts to strengthen bilateral ties through discussions aimed at expanding cooperation in border security, counterterrorism, trade and energy.
The move follows Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi's visit to Syria, where he met with President Ahmed al-Sharaa to address issues of mutual concern and explore ways to deepen relations between Baghdad and Damascus.
