On August 27, 2026, the Embassy of the State of Palestine in Iraq announced the success of its efforts, in coordination with the Central Bank of Iraq and Qi Card, to include members of the Palestinian community and Palestinian refugees residing in Iraq in the services of the SuperQi application.

The step represents practical support for Iraq’s financial inclusion and transition toward electronic payments, particularly as the application provides a range of financial and digital services that facilitate everyday transactions and reduce reliance on cash.

However, the most important step today is to move from the announcement to actual implementation by establishing a clear mechanism that enables beneficiaries to use SuperQi and Qi Card services in accordance with the approved regulations.

This move is consistent with the Central Bank of Iraq’s efforts to expand the user base of digital financial services and enhance financial inclusion. Furthermore, integrating a new segment into Iraq’s electronic payments ecosystem does not benefit Palestinians residing in Iraq alone; it also adds new users to the digital economy, supports the adoption of digital wallets, mobile payments, and QR payments, and strengthens Iraq’s FinTech market.

Ultimately, this step could serve as a practical model for transforming financial inclusion objectives from plans and strategies into accessible services on the ground.
