Iraq’s Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency announced the arrest of five suspects accused of conducting unlicensed currency exchange and domestic and international money transfer operations in Baghdad’s Rusafa district.

The agency said the suspects relied on social media groups to coordinate their financial dealings, including foreign currency speculation and money transfers outside the legal framework.

Security forces reportedly seized around $240,000 in cash from the suspects, along with several mobile phones allegedly used to facilitate their activities.
