Dollar sales allocated to external transfers recorded a significant increase in Wednesday’s Central Bank of Iraq auction, exceeding $188.6 million, representing an 87% rise compared with cash sales.
The Central Bank sold a total of $212.93 million during the auction. The exchange rate was set at 1,305 Iraqi dinars per dollar for documentary credits and international electronic-card settlements, while the rate for external transfers and cash sales stood at 1,310 dinars per dollar.
External transfers and credits accounted for the largest share of total sales, reaching $188.6 million, compared with $24.33 million in cash dollar sales.
The auction included nine banks purchasing dollars in cash, while 18 banks submitted requests to strengthen their foreign balances. A total of 130 exchange and brokerage companies also participated in the auction
