Bahrain announced on Saturday its decision to return its ambassador to Iraq, as part of efforts to strengthen diplomatic relations and expand cooperation between the two countries.

In a statement, Iraq's Foreign Ministry said that Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein received a phone call from his Bahraini counterpart, Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani. The discussion covered the outcomes of Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaydi's visit to Bahrain, including his meetings with the King, Crown Prince, and several senior officials.

Al Zayani expressed Bahrain's appreciation for the Iraqi visit, noting that the decision to return the ambassador reflects the kingdom's commitment to strengthening relations with Baghdad and expanding avenues of cooperation.

Hussein, in turn, thanked Bahrain for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to the Iraqi delegation in Manama, reaffirming Iraq's determination to further develop bilateral relations and enhance cooperation across various sectors.

The two ministers also exchanged views on regional developments amid ongoing tensions, emphasizing the need for continued coordination, consultation, and communication to address the evolving situation.
