A high-level Iraqi federal government delegation arrived in the Kurdistan Region on Sunday for talks with Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Masrour Barzani at the administration of the Zakho Independent Administration, with the aim of addressing several outstanding issues between the two sides.
The delegation, led by the Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs, includes the ministers of oil and electricity, the director general of the North Oil Company, the head of the Prime Minister’s Advisory Commission, and the director of the State Oil Marketing Organization (SOMO), alongside other officials and technical specialists.
The discussions are expected to focus on relations between Baghdad and Erbil, mechanisms for resolving financial disputes—particularly the region’s entitlements under the federal budget—as well as oil-related issues and proposals to improve the management of the energy sector.
