Turkish authorities said on Friday that 175 of 239 suspects had been detained in a major operation targeting an international fraud network involved in foreign exchange and cryptocurrency trading, with Turkish investigators reporting links between several company owners and Israel.
The operation targeted 42 call centers run by 28 companies in Istanbul and Muğla. The network allegedly lured victims in several countries with fake investment opportunities and profits, before demanding additional payments when they attempted to withdraw their funds. Authorities estimated transactions linked to the network at around 13 billion Turkish liras over two years, while the investigation continues.
