First Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives Adnan Fayhan has called for a new set of economic reforms to address ongoing challenges and maintain financial stability, stressing the importance of limiting the impact of the dollar exchange rate increase on citizens' living standards.

During an expanded meeting attended by the Prime Minister, the Minister of Finance, and the Governor of the Central Bank, Fayhan said the government's exchange rate adjustment, introduced as part of its efforts to address economic imbalances, would directly affect household living conditions and have wider consequences for economic activity across the country.

He urged the government to disclose the measures adopted to ease the burden on low-income households and the most vulnerable social groups. He also called for tighter market monitoring and stronger price controls to prevent the decision from being exploited in ways that impose additional financial pressures on citizens.

Fayhan noted that the current circumstances require continued reforms and carefully considered decisions to tackle economic and financial challenges. He affirmed that parliament would support serious initiatives aimed at strengthening the national economy, protecting citizens' interests, and advancing the public good
