Iraqi security forces arrested three individuals suspected of drug trafficking during separate operations in Salah Al-Din and Babil governorates on Sunday, recovering substantial quantities of narcotic substances and psychotropic pills.

In a statement, the Directorate of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Affairs said that coordinated efforts between the anti-narcotics directorates in Nineveh and Salah Al-Din led to a successful security ambush in Salah Al-Din. The operation resulted in the arrest of two suspects and the seizure of 13,500 psychotropic pills.

Meanwhile, Babil’s Directorate of Intelligence and Security announced the arrest of a suspect described as a dangerous drug trafficker. Officers reportedly seized one kilogram of crystal methamphetamine, in addition to drug-use ampoules and gas canisters intended for anesthesia.

According to the directorate, the suspect was apprehended in a carefully planned operation after being lured from Kirkuk, with technical support and coordination from Babil’s anti-narcotics authorities.

The suspects were referred to the judiciary for legal proceedings, as Iraqi security agencies continue efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks and combat the spread of narcotics
