The Salah al-Din Criminal Court on Sunday sentenced six individuals to 15 years in prison each for unlawfully obtaining funds allocated to public service projects in the province.

A statement issued by the Supreme Judicial Council said the funds were intended for the rehabilitation and maintenance of electrical installations, cleaning government institutions, and expenses associated with the estimated procurement costs for materials needed for a 400-kilovolt power line.

The statement noted that the sentences were handed down under Article 316, first paragraph, of Iraqi Penal Code No. 111 of 1969, in conjunction with Articles 47, 48, and 49, which address participation in criminal offenses.
