Security forces in Babylon Governorate have arrested a gang accused of trading counterfeit US dollars in Najaf, following an operation carried out jointly by the Babylon Intelligence and Security Directorate and the Organized Crime Directorate.

Colonel Yasser Salim Watout, head of the Organized Crime Combat Office in Babylon, said the suspects were lured and apprehended red-handed after their whereabouts were identified. The operation resulted in the seizure of large quantities of counterfeit banknotes and stamps used in printing fake currency, which had been concealed inside a house in Najaf.

Watout added that the suspects were referred to the relevant authorities for further investigation and legal proceedings, while all seized items were secured.
