Saudi Arabia’s General Directorate of Civil Defense announced Thursday that the danger alert had been lifted in Makkah, as well as the governorates of Taif, Jeddah and Yanbu and the Tabuk region, while urging citizens and residents to continue observing safety and preventive measures.
Earlier, the Civil Defense issued a warning through the National Early Warning Platform over a potential hazard affecting the listed areas, urging residents to follow official instructions until the situation was declared safe.
The safety guidance called on residents to seek shelter inside buildings, preferably in interior rooms away from windows and glass, and to avoid leaving their homes before the danger had ended. People were also advised to stay away from rooftops, balconies, open areas and other potentially hazardous locations.
Those outside were instructed to move to the nearest safe building or shelter, avoid gatherings and refrain from filming or documenting the incident.
Drivers who receive an alert while on the road were advised to pull over in a safe location away from bridges and high-rise buildings.
