A joint security force on Wednesday rescued a judge and a doctor approximately 48 hours after they were kidnapped in an operation conducted in the Husayniya Al-Maamel area of eastern Baghdad.
The operation involved forces from the National Security Service, the Mansour and Zawraa Crime-Fighting Directorates, and the security unit responsible for the area. The forces managed to locate the victims and free them.
Two suspects allegedly involved in carrying out the kidnapping were also arrested and taken, along with the rescued victims, to the National Security Service headquarters.
Authorities have launched a detailed investigation to establish the circumstances of the incident and uncover the full details, particularly as questions remain surrounding aspects of the case.
