Najlaa Imad, a student at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at the University of Diyala, has achieved a new sporting milestone by winning the gold medal at the France International Paralympic Championship, competing against a strong field that included several of the world’s top-ranked female athletes.
The college’s Media Director, Marwa Khalid Jihad, said Imad’s victory came after an impressive technical and physical performance throughout the competition, noting that the achievement adds to her sporting record and highlights her ability to compete at the international level and secure podium finishes.
Meanwhile, Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, Uday Abdul Hussein Karim, praised Imad’s accomplishment, describing it as a source of pride for the University of Diyala and the college. He also highlighted her determination and perseverance and reaffirmed the college’s continued support for her academic and sporting career.
The achievement reflects the college’s commitment to promoting Paralympic sports and strengthening the inclusion of people with disabilities in athletics, while also supporting women’s empowerment, equality and efforts to reduce inequalities in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.
