The Central Bank of Iraq began implementing new exchange rates for the U.S. dollar against the Iraqi dinar on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, following a recommendation by the Council of Ministers and amid current economic and financial conditions.

In a statement, the bank set the dollar’s purchase price from the Ministry of Finance at 1,500 Iraqi dinars, while the selling rate to banks was fixed at 1,510 dinars and the rate for the public at 1,520 dinars per dollar.

The Central Bank stressed that its foreign currency reserves are sufficient to meet all demand, including financing foreign trade, settling transactions made through bank cards abroad, and providing cash dollars for travelers.
