Iraq’s Ministry of Interior announced on Wednesday that several wanted individuals and violators were arrested and unlicensed weapons seized during a security operation in Al-Nuairiya, on Baghdad’s Rusafa side.
Ministry spokesperson Colonel Mohammed Ali Al-Hassoun said the operation was conducted by the Baghdad Rusafa Police Command with the participation of security, intelligence and supporting units.
The campaign resulted in the arrest of suspects wanted under Article 28, concerning narcotics offenses, and Article 456 of the Penal Code. Eight individuals were also detained for violating residency requirements, while a liquor warehouse operating in breach of regulations was seized.
Security forces additionally arrested four people for possessing unlicensed weapons and confiscated two Kalashnikov rifles and two pistols.
All detainees were placed in custody pending the completion of legal procedures.
