Iraqi security forces on Friday arrested a man for firing shots into the air to celebrate his football team’s victory in Salah al-Din province, while border forces separately foiled an attempt to smuggle 185 cattle and calves in Sulaymaniyah province.

Salah al-Din Police said patrol units and the Ishaqi Police Department responded after receiving reports of gunfire, arresting the suspect and confiscating the weapon. During questioning, the suspect admitted to firing the shots after his team won the match. He was detained under Resolution 570 and referred to the competent court.

In Sulaymaniyah, units from the 3rd Border Brigade, operating under the 1st Region Border Command, foiled smuggling operations involving 185 calves and cattle across the border. The forces also arrested those allegedly involved and referred them to the relevant authorities for legal action.
