Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaydi issued a directive on Saturday requiring government advisers and officials to obtain prior approval from his office before making statements to the media or appearing in media outlets.

The directive covers television, radio and print media, with the measure aimed at regulating official statements, maintaining a unified government narrative and ensuring consistency in the state’s public messaging.

It also called for strict adherence to the instructions to prevent the release of statements or positions that may not accurately represent the government’s official stance.
