The Central Criminal Court for Combating Corruption on Wednesday sentenced MP Bahaa Al-Din Noor Mohammed Hussein to seven years in prison after finding him guilty of illicit enrichment.

The ruling ordered him to repay illicit gains totaling IQD 5.887 billion and USD 10.99 million, in addition to a financial penalty equivalent to the value of the illicit gains.

The court also handed down a three-year hard-labor sentence for concealing information in his financial disclosure form, while applying the harsher penalty.

The ruling further upheld the seizure of his movable and immovable assets in accordance with the relevant legal provisions.
