The Iraqi National Intelligence Service announced the dismantling of an international human trafficking and extortion ring comprised of 10 foreign nationals residing illegally in Baghdad. The network used deceptive job offers to lure victims to Iraq before subjecting them to systematic torture and extorting their families. This achievement caps a series of cross-border intelligence successes, which recently included the extradition from Germany of a suspect in the Speicher massacre and the arrest of another individual accused of extortion and defamation in coordination with Syrian authorities.
